I’m tired of people on Team Obama bashing John McCain as somehow being behind the suggestion that Barack Obama might secretly be a Muslim. Here is a video snippet where none other than Barack Obama himself admits that “you are absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith.” The video was from ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Obama, at the prompting of Stephanopoulos, amended his “Muslim faith” statement to “Christian faith.”
My point in presenting this video is not to say Barack Obama is a Muslim. I’m not saying that and he clearly didn’t intend to say that. It was a mistake on his part. My point is to show that John McCain is not responsible for these rumors and Obama knows it. I wish the left would take Obama’s word on that and quit pointing at McCain and Republicans in general for this rumor. (I am certain Obama’s mis-statement added lots of fuel to that viewpoint though.) As I recall, it was was somebody in the Clinton camp who first released a photo and suggested a Muslim connection for Obama. It did not come from McCain or anyone within his campaign.
